Wtb budget HU

Among all the big purchases between new sound qubed gear and electrical upgrades i'm left on a pretty tight budget. I'm looking to spend around $200 for a decent upgrade from the Pioneer FH-X500UI.

Any suggestions are great... But the few musts are 4v amp inputs and that's about all.

Look at the clarion cz 702. About 130ish new. 5v preouts, active capable, time alignment. It's a nice hu, especially for 130.

I appreciate the deal but the radio only has 2v outputs.

i like the clarion it looks clean and has alot of nice features for different options. I couldn't find the amount of bands in the eq though. Also is a 24 bit dac optimal or do i need to shoot higher?

I don't really want to be buying another HU after this one

CZ702 has a 5 band parametric EQ. It's a lot more powerful than a graphic EQ. You're not going to find a nicer sounding head unit for the money. We sell Clarion if you want to support us.

If you dont care about having an active capable head unit, there's always the alpine 147bt lots of EQ options, clean signal and 24 bit dac and looks nice. You can always go active on the amps.

nah i'd prefer to go thru sonic out of habit.

i don't think i'm gonna go for a passive hu because my budget is so slim and i'd have to buy a 4ch amp.

also will the clarion cz702 have radio noise? like my current hu has a constant high pitch ring that doesn't increase when im cranking the volume

If you hear alternator whine it has less to do with your HU and more to do with your install. Check your grounds, and make sure you have your rca's routed away from your power wire for starters.

It's not rcas cuz they arent active . The ring comes thru the speakers too and stops when the ipod is deactivated or unplugged

Do you even know whats the difference between active and passive? To even make use of an active head unit you need a 4 channel amp. With either head unit choice, you wont need an amp but if you decide to go active with your front stage, you'll need an amp to power the mids and tweeters seperately without the use of a passive crossover, its all done at the head unit.

Personally, I dont like the display interface of the clarion, looks outdated while the 147 bt is sleek and has a 9 band parametric EQ, only thing the clarion has over it is the active feature which you wont even likely use along with the price. Dont get me wrong though, the clarion is still great unit for 140 and under budget, best in its class for sure.

As for the problem you are having, its alternator whine, You can fix it by not having your RCAs on the same side of your power wire along with grounding your head unit RCAs and having proper shielded RCA cables.

I was under the impression passive meant there was no amp in the hu.

I have properly shielded rcas they're from scosche and r thick as hell with really thick plastic.

The rca's arent ran with the amp power wire because there is no power wire at the moment. I am bassless.

I'm gonna remove the hu tonight and check the ground

Its not the head unit's ground, its an additional ground you have to add onto the RCAs
