Wtb amp for jl 10w6

Hello everyone. Recently got my jl 10w6 and jl 500/1 installed. Installer told me the jl amp was going in and out and I needed to send it back to jl... Jl said it will cost atleast $240 to repair...

Wondering if anyone had an amp that was compatible w the subwoofer for a reasonable price or if anyone could rec. a good amp. Thank you.

What vc is the sub ?

It's the original version. Not the newer ones that have come out.

Most likely a dual vc ..I’m assuming it’s probably a dual 4 because I think the 500/1?is rated to run 2 ohm mono not 1 ..with their power supply design they will produce the same power at four or two ohm ...

Any rec? Not really looking to break the bank but I will to replicate what the 500/1 did.

man u can get a jbl 500 for $109 they tested over 800rms (by big blank on here) u coulda got a wolfram for $220 i think they $279 now it does like 950 at 2 ohm be perfect for w6 gain low and ui would have power in case u added a 2nd sub.. several options for $250 or so..

That's a dvc 6 ohm sub. So your best bet would be a matching jl amp, since it does any power at any ohm. What exactly did your installer mean by the amp is going in and out? Cutting off at certain times? If so, I would check connections 1st before spending any $$....that's what shops do instead of troubleshooting themselves. It could be as simple as a lose connection somewhere.

yeah if it's d6 wired to 3 ohm u would need large amp to power it well.. maybe better off look for a used 1k jl on fb or cl i see pretty good deals on them..

Would I take his word for it? No...because if it worked fine in the other car 2 wks ago, what happened in between time? I would seriously go over connections first, make sure they tight. Post up pics of amp if u can

The JL amp does require a strong ground to work properly ...depending on vehicle you may have to run a the same size ground wire to your battery as your power wire ..for that amp you’ll need 4ga power and ground and use real copper wire not that aluminum Chinese crap ...
