I am planning to get a decent check this coming friday and i have accumulated some funds over the summer with my summer job. I have held back from buying any audio recently and would like to try to run active. Instead of getting external processing i would much rather use a HU. I would really like to keep the price around $200....

Post up what you guys have and i will let you know. I can only do a MO, but i have a few references from here with no bad comments.

This is totally different deal, but when i run active i remove the passive crossover and wire both the woofers and tweeters to all 4 channels of the amplifier and that allows me to control everything from the HU correct?

My Alpine 7998 has all of those goodies, and it also hides it's own face when I shut the car off. It's one of the few pieces of my system that I've never swapped out trying new things.

does your car need a mounting sleeve or does it use screws to mount an HU?

I have a CDA-9833, but it needs to be mounted with screws, since I'm missing the tabs that latches to mounting sleeves.
