WTB: 600-800RMS Amp

I do not have a lot of cash to spend, but I would like to get a decent amp that can push 600-800rms at 2ohms. I need something that is some what efficient, and will not require me to upgrade my battery/alt.

Does Kenwood make good, reliable amps? I have not had any experience with them and always though of Kenwood as kinda low end, am I wrong?

They got that reputation from making low end amps for sale in auto part stores and such. Since I started my car audio hobby in 1995 I have never seen or heard about a Kenwood amp crapping out, even the cheap auto part store models.

As for SQ, they have comparible THD,S/N,efficiency ect, to Alpine, Rockford and many other popular companys.

Would you reccomend an Kenwood amp over MTX or MA Audio? I have been looking at both of those.

I would put an MTX up against a Kenwood amp of the same rating anyday, They are both well built amps, the MTX amps are more expensive is all.

As for the MA audio amps I rate them in the Audiobahn catagory, less reliable, less costomer support I personnally would not buy one.

I just took out 3 Audiobahn A8000T amps, 800w @ 2 ohms. you can usually find them online or at some specialty shops for 180 to 215. As for quality i have never had any problems with any audiobahn amp. One of my friends did however, but he was trying to run a 2400w amp off 8ga wire.

I have the a8002t, and I would like to move away from Audiobahn.

Reviewers say that it drained their electrical system, what do you guys think, would I need to upgrade, I would at least do the Big 3, but I am not looking to get a new alternator or anything like that.

It is a personal opinion. But if you go back to the first couple of series of the thunder amps they were very underated(do not know about the new ones). Heck if you wanted to you could run the 2300 @ 1ohm mono.
