umm, thnx? i was actually considering POWER ACOUSTIK OV2-2600. that's under 200 brand new with considerable wattage. given, i only have 4 gauge wiring, but i think my 3.5 farad cap would help.

For one, don't get a 2 channel amp. If you have a pair of type R's, then 1000-1500 RMS wattage is what you should be looking for.

I have an Xsite XAD2K that will do rated power(2000) for 200+shipping. Its in great condition, and on my boys 3 type r 12s it slammed, so it'll take 2 of them no prob

If you get a 1500 Watt monoblock for a pair of type R's they will see 750 a piece. What is the Voice coiul configuration on your subs.

2ohms x 2ohms. but if i get a 2 channel, wont it see more rms wattage cus of each channel? isnt that the logic behind a 2 channel rather then wiring it in series with one amp and 2 subs?

2 subs, 500-750 RMS to each is you use a monoblock between 1kw and 1.5kw.

Hard to get a 2 channel with enough power for subs. Class a/b topology is also less efficient and puts a greater strain on your electrical system compared to an equal wattage class d amp.

The issue is finding a 2 channel amp that'll do 2x500+ watts. 2 channel amps aren't geared towards subs, so they generally don't build them with more than maybe 200 or so watts per channel. And when you do find a 2 channel that'll do that kind of power you need(ie: eclipse da7232), it's going to cost you a good deal more and draw more amperage than an equally powerful monoblock.

d@mn, big up's for the 411.. you just proved to me how much of a noob i am lol. ok, so i should be looking for a class D amp. but what are the differences between the classes? for the past week, ive been offered a few choices then... think you can help me out?

1. would the AMP from RyanM923 be a good choice then? he's saying his Xsite XAD2K will give me 2000 rms.

2. local shop #2 is offering me a performance teknique black series amp 2400w MONO for $100 claiming to be an "x" class

3. local shop #3 is offering me those POWER ACOUSTIK OVN1-4000D or a lil higher priced 5500 models for $200ish also...

what are your opinions on those??

anyone else's insight would be greatly appreciated!
