Meh...just what I was told when I bought them. Got them from a guy with an extensive TC collection including some rare and unique prototypes.

Definitely LMS coils in them though.

tc3k101 told me he heard from several people that 18s don't perform too well on the 3hp motors, but I like your theory, if anyone can back it up then I will look for some 3hp motors as well...

got 4 18s built off of 3in coils... and they seem to perform well. just need to put a 8 layer flat wound aluminum in em if you want em to hold serious power. i only have copper coils now and have fed em 10k successfully on burps for a 155.2 legal. at 43hz.
