spyware doesnt just get knocked out. i think you might be imagining things? but i would run adaware and spybot for your spyware problem

A few things are likely; Your system has been running slow because you have several items that use the internet without your knowledge, or to check for updates, etc;

Since the power was out, I'd assume several (thousand) customers lost their internet ability as well. That should decrease the total traffic on your downline, and give you a better pingtime from the main server.
