Wow - anyone ever seen something run this hot?

Work at a local computer shop, just saw hardware monitor read 107* C (224* F) for a P4 2.8 HT machine. I didn't believe it at first, so I opened the machine. Sure enough the fan on the heatsink is not running. Touched the heatsink and holy shit that sucker was HOT! It was not lying. Now I've seen procs hit 95* C but they'd shut down. Anyone ever hear/see of a machine running that hot consistently without shutting down?

ive seen em run hot and seem to work ok, but they simply cant do the processing it should. If its just idleing on windows desktop, it might work "ok" for awhile. Depends alot on ambient temprature in the room.

also post a picture of your burnt finger cause if it was truely running at 100°+ celcius and you touched it your skin would burn
Touched the corner just long enough to confirm, not a retard.

It might've been wrong, but it was hot as shit for sure. I've seen them get up to 95* but they'd always shut down.

My old pc had a p4 2.8 prescott, it would go up to 70 under load with the standard intel heatsink. New Amd x4 has never gotten above 46....

My GPU got there when the fan control program decided 40 percent fan speed was suitable for the load of F@H. Temp was at 100C, and the air out of the GPu's exhaust was more than warm to the touch. Shut the program down, ran the fan override at 100 percent for an hour or so. No damage, and I think the threshold is around 120C, but I have no desire to ever validate that.
