Would you port this? (Based on WinISD graph)

I have free time, so just thought I play around with WinISD to see the differences between sealed (currently) and possible gains if ported. Below is the graph:



from the plot, the ported box really look impressive, nearly 3dB gain across the board! That like doubling the power from sealed to ported!

Here the parameter I entered following the help file w/WinISD:



I entered what was required, and the rest was calculated by the program. Everything look very close to specs posted by AA. Except the Le show as zero for some reason.

Thoughts?

Here's what it look like on paper: Arsenal vs RLp vs Brahma



It it me or something wrong with the Rlp? I entered the data for Arsenal, but the Rlp and Brahma was in the database already.

Le is the voice coil inductance, it can't be calculated automatically. Judging by the specs I'd estimate the Le of the Arsenal to be around 4mH, input that and see how it changes the response.

There's nothing wrong with the Rlp, it's just not as suited to sealed enclosures as the other 2 subs, try another comparason with vented.

To see why the Rl-P looks the way it does, look at the box Qtc. The box you have plotted is way biger than the sub needs. Per the specs, the Rl-P would pretty much play excellently in a box just big enough to enclose it. I have yet to come up with a box for the Rl-p that looks good on paper.

It's not the plot that has me worried as much as the recommended tuning because of the super low Qts of the Rl-p series. Tune it for flattest response and you have the issue of unloading below tuning and it wants a high tuning.

For a sealed enclosure, the response plot means dick as far as in-car goes.
