Would you pay $100 for this?

You must get ripped off for your stuff cuz carpet is about 5bucks a yard and 2 yards would be enough to do the box. Screw and glue is about right and carpet glue is about 4bucks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Not everybody can buy carpet for $5 per yard. Most shops sell carpet at $10 per yard. Any carpet spray glue peels off over time. I only use contact cement...which is quite costly. You get what you pay for.

You and I are lucky to be in so cal. There are a lot of wholesalers, suppliers, etc. We can buy everything for a relative cheap price compared to everywhere else in the nation. As far as glue: Foamlock degrades over time. Even 3M 90 works very well at a first approach. But, in about a year or so, you will see difference just like most other glues and adhesives. With contact cement, and proper application of course, the joint is very solid and lasts years. professionals in the industry uses contact cement including upholstery shops. Once you've built hundreds of boxes like me, you will start to see the difference and the long term significance. But then again, for onesies twosies...anything will do.

Ya maybe in other states it is more expensive I wouldnt know tho I never really been out of cali lol. But contact cement works great too tho I can get a gallon for about 20bucks. I used it when I redid a headliner It is better stuff. But My foamlock works good:) And i dont like that 3M 90 stuff, my foamlock is 10x better.

Foamlock is slightly better than the 3M 90. The problem that most people have with 3M 90 is not knowing how to apply it. Proper application is the key. I wasted about 10 cans purely on product application testings. There is a exact set time, relative to temperature, to apply the product. Too early or too late, and the product is useless. This is the same for contact cement. I've had installers tell me contact cement does work. It surely doesn't work when it not put on right. Contact cement used to be $100 for a 5 gallon. Prices rose to $140. Where are you buying it for $20 a gal? I might have to go there.

I sure can if you would like
Right now i'm in the middle of making a box but when I finish and the box sucks I will totally hit you up. Its kind of hard building a box with only a drill and some screws and wood glue. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hilarious.gif.02a037aad04aa96f19982b298a3d70a8.gif

We all have to start somewhere. At least you're giving it a shot.

Well yea we all started somewhere, it just takes practice and patience. I am now just getting ll the tools together so i can stop borrowing my buddys lol but they are a must, it's good to have a table saw a plunge router jig saw and some others. Yea just get at me pm or whatever i take trades also so if u low on cash or whatever.

Let's see.
$30 - sheet of MDF

$25 - carpet

$5 - screw/brad nails

$3 - woodglue

$10 carpet glue

$5 - terminal connections

Priceless - Great labor.

That's $83 + labor.

You'd save a ton.
