aero port help

I built a box for a buddy, total box volume before displacement is 3.34cu.ft

Its for 2 low end Soundstream 15s, like 400w rms each.

I want to do aero ports, but not sure what size and how deep.

I was thinking maybe 2 2in aeros at like 12in deep each or 1 big one?

Any ideas?

i'd do either dual 3" or single 6"

These things dont move at all, and wont handle alot of power, Im just worried about the subs bottoming out

3 cubes sounds really small for 2 15's....

honestly, you should go to 1 15" sub and use a single 4" aero port. you'll probably have a better result b/c that'll be a more optimal enclosure for the sub than a box that is too small. or make it a sealed enclosure and use some polyfill.

the older model SS subs were low power sq designs the box is plenty big for them you only need 8-10 sq in of port as well for them they dont move enough to cause bad port velocity. a single 4" per chamber is plenty.

Built it today, opted for a 3in aero @ ~5in deep. Comes out to 30hz tuning if I am correct.

If i sounds bad Ill add another 3in, but I think this will be fine

Any opinions?

Needs more box.. and needs more port area..

You will need to increase the length on each 3 inch to maintain tuning..

IMHO at LEAST a 4 inch aero.... just my opinion.

you have dif subs

the xmax determines port area. his subs have next to nothing for xmax and they are very efficient and need nearly no port.

I posted a thread a while back asking why people always go by box size for port area .. when it seems like Xmax would have a much greater effect...

thats cuz most everyone here has subs that are 20-30 mm xmax so a general rule of thumb for that is 12-16 sqinches per cf which for spl is correct but IMO is horrible for sq
