Would you buy a refurbished HDTV?

i try to buy refurbs any time i can. not only are they cheaper, they still have a warranty, and are checked over by a technician who replaces the defective part, and checks operation before sending it back out.

Ideally, a refurb is less likely to have future defects as people go over and test each and every one...unlike the assembly line.
While there is some truth to this refurbs are usually only tested for whatever the problem was, so it will not necessarily find a lurking or future problem.

For a tv I would say its a pretty safe bet, but there are a few items I would not buy refurbed.

That is what I've always thought about referb stuff as well...

I've purchased a few things "B" stock and a few things dealer demo and have never had a problem with any of them.

as long as it has a warranty i say go for it. over all you still take the same chance of having problems.

you really dont know what was fixed on the unit either. it could be something minor like an input, remote sensor, the stand that hold the screen etc. i do believe if it is an internal circuit that the factory would more than likely just replace the entire board, it is more cost effective to do that. instead of paying someone hours to find all the individual components affected, its cheaper to just replace the board within more than lkely minuites.

Whats up with black friday deals being refurbs...alot of places I see online are selling refurbs as their "black friday" deals.

That said I've bought four refurb amps in the past...two work great...two had issues. I'd hope your luck with a TV would be better
