Would This Be Okay?

I was wondering if it would be fine and not hurt the speaker if took my kicker CVR with the rigid silver cone, and put a very light layer of paint on the flat section on the cone. I figured that the cone is made to be rigid, that's why it has that design, and that is supposed to be the most rigid spot, so the paint shouldn't chip of from flex. I was thinking because of that not being the biggest area, that it wouldn't add much moving mass, expecially because it is thin paint. So, what do you think?

that's exactly right, the paint on that section of the cone looks like it has been rubbed off a little, but nothing about the cone is damaged, just the paint is fading, so I was just wondering if this would be okay. any input at all?

does anybody know what kind of paint would be the best to use? I was thinking some sort of brush on paint, similar to model enamels, so I wouldn't have to mask anything off, and I could control the thickness of the layers better. would that work?

The best way is the right way. Carefully masking off the surround, and using a good quality acrylic enamel. Rough up the surface with some 320 grit paper (not much, just enough to get paint to stick) prime it, and then have at it with the spray paint. I would recommend Duplicolor wheel paints. Theyre some tough stuff.

Would that type of paint add too much moving mass to the cone? I don't want to make the cone less efficient.

take painting tape and put it around the surround take a spray paint car and lightly spray over not twords but over the whole thing we did it to a sub and its fine
