This will sound ok to most people, but if you want output, deff get a ported box built to spec or even over spec depending on what you want for output.

If you have all the right tools I would consider building it yourself, that box is overpriced and mass produced crap, go to your local sound shop and pay them to build one, it will prolly be around that cost or maybe a lil more for a standard non flashy box, or find someone on here to build one...PORTED

the type R isn't a sealed box sub. you'd be better off running 1 type R ported.

If it's not a sealed box sub then why does it say a sealed box is one of the recommended to use?

The Type R can be used sealed, it just has a much greater gain when you port the woofer.

RE SE and FI Q's, for example, do very well in a sealed box, but will still get louder ported.

Ported = louder. You can seal it, but you wont have as much output as you would if you had both of them in a correctly built ported enclosure.

I see...well I really have no shops around here unless I want to drive up to Orchard Park or Buffalo.

So I'd probably buy one online.

They did. I had a faulty T1000 when I got it, and when it went out it took the subs with it. I am waiting on some brand new Type-R's, which will probably sound even better.

It is more than loud enough for me.

Yeah. I got hooked up. My brother in law is head install at Ultimate, so I got a custom $1000 box, 2 alpine R's, T1000 and a pioneer premier deck and all installed for like $400. Best deal on anything I've ever gotten I think. He made the box for me for my birthday.
