I bought a Kenwood Excelon 400watt RMS x 1 amp to push my Eclipse 12" (500 RMS). But I've always had a thing for those Audiobahn High Current Amps (the ones with the chrome flames on 'em) and I've found an A1500HCQ (500RMS x 1) in town for a decent price. Now, from what I've been reading in this forum over the past few months, I'm pretty sure that just about anyone here would say that the Kenwood is a better quality amp. Two questions...
1. Is the Kenwood really THAT much better??? I mean... would the Audiobahn still make the sub sound great??? The chrome and the flame design would really complement the chrome and flame motif goin' on inside my car and if that Audiobahn would still make the Eclipse do it's job and sound nice then I'd rather get that.
2. Are those Audiobahn High Current Amps under or over rated??? I know that the Eclipse 12's are 500RMS and I know that they are 1000watt peak... but would it be dangerous to send the full 500RMS or maybe a little more to the sub??? Would sending the full RMS recommendation or more make it sound worse??? Better??? Audiobahn makes a 300RMS x 1 High Current amp too... should I get one of these instead???
ThanX alot guys!!!
