It likely won't be able to get as loud as the Type R did... Though, that would depend on the boxes between the two as well. Yea, I'd save up for SA model. Or, talk to SKAR about doing a 15" + Enclosure deal with them. I know they have a 12" & box for $199 shipped which is basically the best deal ever made.... Talk to them about that and upgrading you to a 15"

How would a 12" VVX compare to a Type R in a proper enclosure? How much would a 15" VVX + custom box set me back?

I live in mora, bout an hour from st cloud.... those 5 8s arent quite up and running yet.... they will be by the beginning of summer... if minnesotas loudest ever has another comp ill be there....

honestly im not a fan of skar in particular. however i would personally reccomend some ssa icons

(price is great and they are bangers) . more cone area and motor force than the type r. and doesnt need more than 1500 to get loud. it may set you back about 7 cubes in the trunk tho

I don't like dealing with brands I don't hear a lot about..I don't know why, it just sits uneasy with me. That's probably why I had nothing but mainstream products for the vast majority of my subs up until now..

oh lord i thought you were different.... do some research about ssa. and american bass, FI, Aq, Dc.... all those have very nice woofers at a very nice cost. look into a dual 12 setup too not just 1 15.
