i dont believe so it only helps grounding the block and batt. and give the alt a better wire to travel threw so no i dont think so

No it wont hurt it.

He may have been referring to improper installation practices, like trying to do all the wiring with the battery still connected and possibly shorting the battery.

Run your wires with the battery disconnected, when everything is finished reconnect the battery.

Not, it only helps raise the voltage, doesnt have a negative effect on anything if done correctly.

note that disconnecting the battery may *reset* the computer, however; You have an aftermarket radio though, right?
