would a volt meter

Ya, just hook the + to the power wire and than the - to any bare metal on the car. If the power wire is working it should give a reading. Might wanna try different spots tho cause sometimes the bare metal might no be dirrectly connected to the chasis.

ok iti didnt work im guessing i have a short

qick ? would run the rac cable and power cable on the same side next to each other affecting anything there not taped or anything but ran side ny side

If you have a short, you more than likely blew a fuse, otherwise you would most likely be smelling some funky burning car material, or have an exploding battery. Check the fuse.

No, having the RCAs and power wire ran on the same side wouldn't affect the power wire. It may affect the signal coming through the RCAs, though.

hmm it dont think thats it

check the fuses on the amp and the inline fuse check the rca i guess it my amp

but however im not getting no power from my power line however that volt meter is 10+ years old o well back to scracth new amp and new wires
