Worth the upgrade?

I would actually look to see if you can find a used Crescendo 3k for a little more than the PA.
So if I had said the guts were of a JL it would've been gravy, but due to the fact that it's a pa you're assuming it's crap? This series from them Is one of the very few that are good.

 
no dis, but PA has been known to be meh,

if it was planet audio, thatd be a little diferent story, if it was the older series.

regardless man, just drop 300-400 on a nicer amp.

once you do, youll never go back, and youll know why im telling you this,

your subs will sound better.

Not only this, but you will also get better reliability, a cleaner source of power, and a much higher resale value.
