word record!!!!!! 2 18" DD's

Are you claiming you have any proof otherwise? You know, when Alma Gates hit 170 all the talk was sitting in her truck would cause heart failure, internal bleeding, etc etc. Oh it was all figured out so scientific like too, internet science n all. Anyway, all those theories went right out the window when people started sitting in it while it burped (earplugs). Nobody died! *gasp*
Now here we are again, 10 years later and 10db higher, the same things being said.
no proof, but at that much pressure in a closed car, it would definately cause some serious damage to your body if not kill you. i have sat in a car, doors open that could hit a high 150db, and it was almost overwelming. felt like it was going to blow me outside the car. so that leads me to the question, have you ever been a car playing anything close to that loud?

180 decibels has been known to cause to hemorrhage of the liver and lungs. Navy's been killing animals for years!

**** thats insane there. but they could of been metered diffrently to bad couldn't have the pioneer truck go once and then across from it the DDs would go next on same meter but not at same time of course see who was really louder:).

You are aware that 194dB is almost full 29.4 PSI sweep? IE, your would want to explode and then compress rapidly... Granted 194 is a long shot from ~184dB.

As far as how much testing has been done at thoes pressure levels, there are mechanical noise inducers more than capeable of 185dB. Basically Mythbuster woofers with real engineering and some people that are just a tad bit smarter behind the design. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

They use them for stress tests...I'm sure you wouldnt want to be in the chamber (hearing protection or not) when they turn the knob.

Yeah, 194 is a totally differnet ballagame. darn exponents. Then again, 170 and 180 arent' quite "close" either.

yikes

too bad they can't even afford 0 guage wire..

Ive sat in a high 150's truck. Oh, and I sat In Alma's Bronco, not on full tilt tho. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Don't forget db is not the whole piece to this puzzle, so is frequency.
Mythbusters is a joke. I saw that episode, don't remember specifically, but it was lame (was outside for one iirc).

Im not saying it would be fun to sit in a 180db vehicle, or that I even know what it would be like. But until someone shows/proves it would be fatal, I believe its.... possible... but Im skeptical. *shrug* I don't think its accurate to simply state it would be fatal, if there's is no proof of this (just like there wasn't 10yrs ago with 170 systems).

Any bass frequincy is going to sustain pressure changes long enough to cause internal damage when you are talking about a good portion of the ambient pressure being sucked down and then pushed up.

Even with a 2PSI pressure sweep that is like a 200lb man belly floping up and down on your stomach 20-80 times persecond...

Different portions of your body have different resonant frequencies, jut like your vehicle. What the sound waves damaged (at least first), to what extent, and how much power was needed would be frequency dependant.

Resonant frequincy of your bodypart has little to do with that I'm talking about.

If I punch you in the kidney with 40lbs of force will it damage something? Possibly yes. Now if I punch you in the kidney rapidly will it damage somthing. Again, very possible.

If the frequincy use is at or near the resonany frequincy of the body part than it could be even more destructive. Then it would create a standing vibration.

Im not sure I see where you've shown a 180db burp (at a given freq) will equate to a 2PSI pressure sweep, a 200lb man jumping on you, or a 40lb punch to the kidneys. But, you seem to be alot more zealous about this discussion than me, I'll just assume you are probably correct and move on.

2 PSI was just a figure I chose to make the point and have a number to work with. I dont feel like formula digging. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was that bored, 180db is about 3psi. That's hitting you, oh 60 times per second, yeah that's pain. Plus since decibels go up exponentially, by the time you hit the 194 barrier, your dealing with almost 15psi! Looking at the derivate, around 170 decibels is where the pressure vs SPL begins to get interesting. 1 or 2 decibels of increase at 170-180's actually means something in terms of pressure vs say 140-150, both of which are well under 1 psi. So yeah, if a car hitting 170 wont' hurt you, a car hitting 180 very well might! Just due to the nature of decibels. It's exponential growth, to put it in perspective, your under 1 psi up until 170! 0-170 decibels is all under 1 psi, 170-190 contains the other 14psi! The difference between say 180 and 183 is STAGGERING, simply because of what kind of pressure it takes to make 180, it takes 2x that already enormous pressure to gain 3db's again. Setting in a 170 car, is piddly shit compared to a 180 car, just due to the fact that your moving well over 6x the air.
