Woot for broken subs.

well, i bought a brahma off a character over on sounddomain, respectable guy, pretty good to deal with.

it finally got it after 9 days of shipping through the USPS.

i get teh package and here is what i looks like...

there is no crate built around the sub!

it as only boxed and boxed, then there was a towel wadded up above the cone.

Now, here comes the problem.

the cone is completely unattached from teh Spyder.

my guess is that since there was no crate to stop any downward force on the sub's cone, it was pushed too much, and ripped the connection.

either that, or the guy scammed me and sent me the sub already broken.

/rant

now...is there an easy way to fix this connection...like what kind of glue can be used to re-attach cone/spyder assembly?

I would contact the seller first and let him know what happened...if it was broke in shipping then you can file an insurance claim...if it was broke when he sent it then he should have to refund some of the money for a recone....

Carl, you CAN use CA glue to re-attach it....problem is that there will be a 80% chance that the cone will dry mis-aligned and you have the same problem again.

I say you and I go over to the dudes house and clean house

im doubting that if he did send the sub already broken, that he would admit it.

i dont think he sent it broken though, he seemed real good.

lets do it.

he lives in kansas.

well i got the Brahma.
but.

the connection between the cone and spyder assembly is completely separated. now im guessing that this happened in shipping, from too much downward pressure due to insufficient packaging. The sub is definately damaged, and will not operate properly.

im not so sure how to go about dealing w. this situation, but i know that i myself should not have to pay for the recone that it is in need of.

get back me to asap if you would please.

thank you

twas me e-mail.

where does one go about buying CA glue

There are several different versions.....it was hard for me to pick the right one at first, because RE uses Cyberbond Apollo 2241 and its not easy to come by. I had to con the cyberbond glue rep in my area to give me a free sample bottle, otherwise you gotta buy like $200 in glue to get a **** bottle.

There is a locite equilivent to this, its Locite 410

http://www.hmcelectronics.com/cgi-bin/scripts/product/4675-0040/ and it runs $21.90 a bottle...kinda pricey...

What ive used also is

BSI.Tire.CA.jpg

BSI rubber tough CA - $5.39 a bottle

BSI Gap Filling Medium - $2.99 a bottle

and it seemed to work pretty well without an accelerant spray, just had to have some patience and watering eyes.
