is it bad for a midbass magnet to be touching bare metal? like if u were to put a magnet on a refrigerator, thats what it does when its mounted in my door. it magnetizes itself to my door because i had to remove the boot on the mids for them to fit.

thats where it is being mounted already, where my CDT's where. in the door panel. but even then, the midbass is so big, the magnet still reaches the metal panel on the inside of my door. is this bad? will it cause problems?

At first it won,t have any effect but as time passes and your door panel becomes magnitized it will add more power output, same effect as a larger more expensive magnets. Be very careful though, if you get to close to another car they will attach themselfs.

im being serious :-\ this component set means alot to me. i dont want to screw it up.. the car magnetize thing, w/e.. jokes a joke, right? but your first sentence, it wont effect anything. as u said. im not worried about it gaining more output, im worried about if its going to screw up my speakers.

would more likely make them play slightly different. but i doubt you will harm your speakers

It might transfer some additional vibrations/rattles to your door, but other than that I don't see why it should matter....any chance of making some trim rings and bumping them out a bit?

Also, make sure the vent hole is not covered, so there is adequate ventilation. (if there is one for those speakers)
