Wood for trim on wall.

RIP CA.com.
IDK why I cant decide on what to use on my trim pieces to seal up my wall.

Should I use 3/4 MDF or just use some cheap thin wood?? I used MDF for the top trim and its just a ***** to trim to get it to fit perfectly.

Its all going to be carpeted so looks don't matter.

Any recommendations?

MDF would not be my first choice. MDF always tends to get marred in some way in my installs. Whether it's a corner beginning to chip or compress, SOMETHING happens to it. Plus it's a ***** to get screws to hold. Get something thinner and easier to work with that will hold screws.

I hate MDF and figured the trim pieces are only to make it look pretty and have nothing to do with the actual box so I could do a thiner wood.

Never even thought about a rasp to help shave down the MDF.. That would make this much easier to shape.. I was using a jigsaw and sandpaper.

Its not a loud wall. Just 2 lvl 3 18s.

Guess I just need to **** it up and start cutting some more MDF..
