but yea, i will admit im not capable of producing that kind of work
I was assuming a 3ft box, and that would use about 15 board foot +/- of wood, at $6 per board foot (most any wood out side very exotic)
As for a proper veneer job, you have to have steam boxes and vac presses to hope to achieve anything near what you posted.

Then ontop of all that if you just so happen to ding or nick veneer, your screwed.

An BTW I am a carpenter for over 20 yrs.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I type to slow, you beat me to it:laugh:

this is a veneer too, but doesnt mean i want a veneer

Even some of Focal's HT stuff is made in veneered MDF. I have their Electra series speakers (JMLab/Focal) and they are MDF veneered in a black melamine material. So there must be some reason they used MDF in $8,000 speakers.

Like I mentioned, you better have some big boy toys to try to pull something like that off, also those are veneers over solid wood.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

easy to work with and it's cheap!

it does have some advantagious sonic properties, but then so do other materials.

My custom bass guitars are pretty insane.

Elm burl over butternut

bloodwood, macasser ebony, cocobolo, buckeye burl, purpleheart etc.

Pretty cool to look at. Not worth it to do a whole box in them though, lol
