got a spare clarion dpx 11551.

this ***** randomly decided to go into protect and now wont get out of protect. any ideas?

power and ground is all it has connected to it. not even mounted in car, just have it connected to the battery for testing. (remote signal is connected from battery to turn it on)

is this amp out the door? i turned down every setting to zero and nothing. still protect.

id say its dead. im guessing it was in the closet and you just decided to hook it up? if so going from a/c to outside heat couldve caused condensation on the board and when you turn it on puff you burnt the amp.

id personally open it up and give it a look

Did you try unplugging the power/ground wire and then plugging it back in? Sometimes the amp gets stuck in some sort of loop and doesn't come out of protect and needs a "reset" to fix itself.

yup it was in the closet for a while. ive taken it out to run it a few times but this time it was in there for a couple of months and it turned on for a sec and then went into protect. and the ***** just wont get out of it. il try taking a look inside to see whats going on. what should i look for based on what you're saying?

i didnt try unplugging it and plugging it back in because this is the second time that i try hooking it up. and both times its been in protect. so i assumed it had plenty of time to reset between the two times that ive tried to hook it up. i gues i could try again.

gone !!!! hit me up roberto, i'll get you a new amp
hah why do you say that? im not in need of a new amp. this is just a spare. but id like to get it to work if i can. ... or are you interested in a trade for it? idk if you can make some use out of it or if you could fix it for yourself.

You could try to arc it out of protect. Disconnect the power wire, leave the remote and ground in. Wait like 10 sec and plug it back in.
never heard of this lol. but worth a shot i guess. has anyone heard or tried this. hopefully this will work.

if you open it up just look for burn marks on the board i seriously doubt it works any more but u could always check to make shure the terminals arent loose re-soldering them is easy if thats the case
opened it up and nope. everything looks super clean and in good shape. i dont see absolutely one single thing out of the ordinary and much less any burnt marks or anything that looks defected or "blown up".

i have no idea what it could be. it doesnt have any on board fuses either. so cant be that

It works, I've done it a few times before. I should've clarify that the system needs to be on. You'd disconnect the power wire with the system off, turn the system on (car on) wait till your head unit is fully power, then plug the power wire in and it should arc hopfully taking the amp out of protect mode. It won't work if there's something actually wrong with the amp.
