for the most part...just about every public range I have been to, the only thing you need is a valid drivers license, you have to fill out a form/waiver/questionnaire and thats about it...I think...

it's really no different than letting nut jobs bring in their own guns...

Unfortunately firing ranges don't have mental health professionals onsite to give each renter a thorough examination before renting them a gun, shocking, I know.

A local gun range here does background checks on members before they can ever step into the lanes. Members only club, no walk ins allowed. Doesn't mean some crazy can't pass a background check though.

Yea, but in order to buy a gun you have to either pass the background check process from a dealer, or take the time to find a private party. Just seems like to me some nut job can forget to take there meds, go to the range and shoot up the place, which looks like it happend

probably should be some sort of waiting period for that if ya ask me. The only thing worse than this is large gun shows which i imagine you can acquire a weapon quite easily at

The form to buy a firearm asks if you are crazy, doesn't mean a crazy has to mark it yes. Kind of a dumb checkbox on the form if you ask me. Atleast any past commits to a hospital for mental issues would hopefully show up on the background check. Not sure there is an easy way to get a crazy to honestly admit they are crazy...

Gun shows here require the same background check and forms that you would see at any brick and morter gun store.
