WMA to MP3

I know this has been asked plenty of times. I did a search and read plenty of material even though a lot of it is just people arguing about cd quality. Anyway I've downloaded plenty of software and still can't figure out how to convert WMA files to MP3. A lot of my songs say they are protected, what's the best program to convert with and is there one that will take off the protection? Basically I would like a step by step answer, I've literally spent all my day off yesterday trying to figure it out. My e-mail is famcassani@aol.com if anyone has any long suggestions. Thanks a lot.

Might I ask why you want to convert .wma files to .mp3 files? Most HUs that read .mp3s also read .wmas //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
It's just so I can store a lot more songs onto a disc, I got a 6cd changer and I'm still constantly switching out cds.

By the way, I currently have Acoustica MP3 converter, cowon Jet Audio media center, and Nero Burner 5 installed. Are any of these programs any good?

Maybe use Easy CD-DA Extractor to convert the files. I dunno if it woll work for the ones with protection. You could probably use Nero to burn the WMAs as an image (*.iso, or *.bin + *.cue) then mount the image and extract the audio as MP3.

Why not just downsample the WMAs in which case you could probably use Easy CD-DA for that again...

One of the more popular ways is to get a program that can record audio off your soundcard. It's simple and easy, but it will take forever since you have to play the music to get it copied.

And depending on the quality of your soundcard, it may not sound that great afterwards.

ripping with windows media sucks anyway. i use db poweramp, and it converts .wma to .mp3. i stopped ripping with wmp and i get great results with dmc audio input. it comes bundled with db poweramp.

i use a free one called "messer". recorded all my old hard to find tapes with it. it worked really well, especially for freeware.

I don't see how you'll get more on a disc w/ MP3 vs. WMA, unless your player doesn't support WMA (Most MP3 players support both) ...
yeah, the compression isn't more with one or the other. get a dvd player and make mp3 dvd's. 4.7 gigs on one disc is the sh!t.

I can only get like 20 songs on a disc everytime I burn a cd and my g.f popped in a cd that had 99 songs on it and I thought it was the greatest thing in the world. **** I feel old, I don't know what you kids nowadays are using to get 99 songs on a cd but I want it!
