...read the ohm load of my subs, can i do this at the amp because the two leads are already hooked up.

also what should it read.

edit: problem resolved, thanks!

Supposed to be:

yes you can check at the amp. Well, at the speaker wire at the amp that is.

See the ohm symbols on the DMM options? try those. From the looks of it, you will get an ohm reading in multiples of 10 depending on the options set up.

Just play with it for a bit and figure it out. its not that hard.

I played with the settings that have the ohm feature but the closest thing to 1ohm i got was 2.6

I'll try that right now. brb
are you sure your subs are dual 4 ohm subs?

if i were you, i would pop one of the subs out and read its coils directly until you know which setting is right on the DMM, then troubleshoot from there.

They're supposed to be //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif but i just popped them out twice in the past half hour i'm going to avoid pulling them out again

i'll leave that for a last resort.

I have a DMM similar to this...

To get an OHM reading for subs I set it to '200' under the OHM symbol and hooked it up to a 4ohm SVC sub and the DMM read 4.0 (which is correct)

Tried it on a 2ohm sub and it read 2.0 (which is correct)

Then hooked up Two 4ohm SVC subs parallel to read 2ohm and the DMM read 2.0-2.1ohms which was correct.

So perhaps that could be the case with yours.

Like stated, hook it up to a sub first.

ok. I tried a mixture of all the settings with the 2nd knob on (K)ohm

No readings except for these two

a. (2) = .001

b. (200mv ohm) = 2.1

nothing else gives me any readouts

what subs are they? have a model number for us by chance?
DD1510's

Try setting the bottom dial on 'ACmA' then setting the top dial at '200' then hook it up and see if it reads anything from that.
got nothing from that.

so so far I've only got a 2.1 readout from any combination, I was told these are dvc 4ohm but i'm starting to think they're svc 4ohm

see, I don't think AC current is what he's looking to measure here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

the setting he had were right, or so it seems.

bottom dial set to Kohm top dial set to "200mv"

BUT!

measure the resistance of the mulitmeter leads themselves, just connect the two probes together, and whatever they measure, subtract it from the subs voice coil resistance.
