Wiring to 2 ohms? Help is needed!

I have an Alpine Type-R, 12", 500 watts RMS at 2 ohms.

+ - + -

I wired the first positive, and the second negative, to my amp. I then used one of the small wires (I guess they're called jumpers), to connect the first negative and second positive. I'm trying to wire it to 2 ohms. Is that correct?

For other reference, I have an Alpine MRP M500 amplifier, 500 watts RMS stable at 2 ohms.

if you don't get the diagram why are you doing this yourself? it can't get any more simple the the diagram shows. you have 2 voice coils. run the + from the amp, to the + on the sub, then use the jumper from the same + to the other + on the sub. then do the same with the - wires. get a friend to do this or an install shop. this is not that hard. YES YES YES SUB TERMINAL TO SUB TERMINAL.

shit will catch on fire... whats the impedance on your subwoofer? those diagrams are extremely obvious, above the pictures it even says what impedance you will get depending on the impedance of your voicecoils, and whether wired in series or parallel. Connect the terminals with speaker wire equal to the size going to the amplifier...
