Wiring to 1 ohm?

With dvc 2ohm subs can you wire them to 1ohm? And if so with what kind of amp? mono, 2ch? I know this may sound dumb to most but I am just starting out. Any advice would help

4 dual2 ohm voic coil =1ohm

i say mono for bass but a 2 channel has done me no wrong(

Im asking because i had some guy who wired them he said only using 1 voice coil and sund sounded like shit. I disconnected them. WHat is he talking about?

Yeah tha only shows 2ohm, and .05 ohm not 1ohm? ANd does anyone know what the hell that guy was doing?

With TWO dual 2 subwoofers, you cannot achieve a 1 ohm final load. You can do 1 ohm PER sub on a 2 channel amp. But for a mono amp, the final load can only be 0.5 ohm, 2 ohm, and 8 ohm. Most amplifiers will NOT run at 0.5 ohm and if you try, will void their warranty. 8 ohms is too high and the amp will be fine but you won't be putting out any power. 2 ohms is your only option. You're looking at either a Kicker, Pioneer, Kenwood, or Alpine monoblock amp because they almost all rated @ 2 ohms. The person who told you a 1 ohm load can be achieved by wiring only 1 of the coils per sub is a retard and he is going to ultimately ruin your system.

Thank you Dnick. Thats what I have been waiting for all night, you anwsered my question instead of giving me a web site which I had already checked before i wrote on here. I am using a DB Drive Platinum 1200 which is 1 ohm stable, the way he hooked it up did not sound right. They hit but when I turned my bass on my eq they started cutting out. I guess he had them at .05 ohm? I did not understand I was dissapointed because the db plw are suppose to be much better than the rf p3 I have now.

So you need 2 4 ohm dvc subs. Woud it be wired like option 2 then wire both subs into same mono channel?

Your best option would be to take the subs and wire their coils in series. That makes each sub have load of 4 ohms. Then take the subs and bridge them to the amp (in parallel) so that the subs have a final impedance on the amp of 2 ohms. Your amp will not be putting out FULL power. But your amp won't be going into protect mode.
