Wiring three Subs

I need help wiring 3 SVC subs to my 2 channel amp, i have three MTX 8000 10" and one MTX 81000D Amp, I was wondering if i should just run all three positives and all three negatives to the amp in bridged mode of if i should run it in a series mode? And will i lose any power to any of the subs if i do...

I have been running my RF Punch 200 @1.33 ohms for over 2 years and it has been great!! No troubles at all!! Most amps are not recomended to go under 2 ohms, but there is only one way to find out....

Then again.....may I just got lucky.

true alot of quality amps could run at 1.3 but if the amp burns out the warranty wont cover it so i would advise against doing that unless you ahve an older amp you dont really care about

first of all what is the resistence of your subs and the resistence of your amp.....if wiring them in paralell brings it down below 2 ohms i would recomend wiring them in series....even though that will reduce the amount of power they will receive....good luck

I have 3 JL Audio w6's and I have all three ran together in the box and just one speaker wire runing out and i hooked it up to a Plant Audio amp (800 x2) and I bumped hard for about 40 min. Then it just quit playing going down the road so I pulled over and the amp was red. And I fried every thing inside of it. Because that amp was not 1.5 ohm stable so all the have to do is just find you a good amp that is stable for that kind of ohm. I have a JL Audio 500/1 amp right now that does not even get hot so it is pretty kick ass!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well it is all worked out, i am pretty sure that the bd1000 is stable that low, but, the guy i bought them from told me he could special order 8 ohm speakers, so now i have three 8 ohm subs that bridge down to exactly 2 ohms, which is perfect for that amp, so i am all good to go, thanks

Hey, if the guy you are buying these 8-ohm subs from told you they would drop to 2 he is wrong, You would need 4 8-ohm speakers to get 2-ohms. The 81000d should run fine at 2.67 ohms(thats what you get with 3 8-ohm) Just be very careful with that amp, I have two 12 inch alpine type-e's and the gain is halfway up. Previously i blew 2 sets of Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1s

I dont understand, when you wire in paralel doesnt it cut in half each time? or is there a way to do it so you can make it go perfectly down to 2? and on the gain thing, i know gains are dangerous to any subs, it adds too much distortion, i wouldnt have been turning the gain up much anyways... plus i am not sure if my battery/alternater are up for that serious kind of power, next on my list is 2 1 farad caps or 1 5 farad cap...

anyways thanks for the input.

think of it this way, with one sub there is one way for the current to go, if you add another sub, it adds another path for current to go, so the impedance cuts in half. If you add a third sub, it makes three equal paths for current, so you would divide by three. if you have three 8 ohm speakers divide 8 by 3, 2.67 ohms. As far as caps go i have a one farad cap and my lights still go very dim, you can hear my engine idel go down when they hit hard. Another consideration is your wire guage, the amp requires 0/1 guage wire.

I have 0/1 gauge wire threwout, i havent actually hooked up the subs yet as the shipping is screwed up, anyways, i have a few more questions, on my mtx 8000's inside my sealed speaker box, what gauge wire should i use? i have 12 gauge, do you think that is big enough? and then on the outside from the center post to the amp i have 10 gauge, is this big enough or should i go bigger? oh, one other thing, i have a 100 amp circuit breaker, the guy who sold me the amp said that was big enough, but do you think i should go with a 150 amp or 200 amp?

as far as inside the box, if you are switching the subs, i would take the time to put 10 guage, 12 would be fine but 10 is even better. as far as the circuit breaker, i am only running a 60 amp bus fuse and havent had any problems so i think the 100 amp breaker would be fine. if it starts tripping i wouldnt go higher than 150, you could damage the amp.

I don't think this is to likely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
