Wiring subs to amp

I'll be using some infinities with 300rms to each sub and was wondering what size wire I am going to need for the link between subs and the terminals on the box. I know there is a sticky about this, and I looked at it, but was a little confused because it says that you need 12awg wire to handle between 375 and 950 watts at 2 ohms (they'll be wired in parallel so i'll have 600 watts going through the wire), but the enclosure i got from a buddy already has some 16awg on it ready to go... just double up the 16 awg and youl be fine.. just dont get the wireing ****ed up and cross em

Hmm... I think it might be a bit short to double up on... maybe I'll just spring for some 12awg. I'll only need like 3 or 4 feet anyways
