Wiring Question wiring in parralel

I know this may sound stupid but I was wondering if it could be done. Could you wire two DVC subs a 4 ohm and 8 ohm sub in parralel. I know its not recommended to do this but is it safe for the subs? What would the ohm load be if you did this?

i assueme your trying to hook up some car audio subs at home. what are the independence of the subs?

physics calculations... assuming one sub is 4 ohms dvc and the other is 8 dvc... 2/8+2/8+1/8+1/8=6/8...take the recip of that... 8/6 = 1.333 ohms (x1)....roughly..

i'm really not sure if its bad or not to mix ohm loads..like if you had 2 channels...channel 1 would get 2 ohms while channel 2 would get 4 ohms..

no it cant be done. the wiring hypotheticaly would work but when your talking about speakers the differences in ohms will cancell each other out and youll end up with horible distortion.

The ohm of the coil doesn't matter as long as the amp can handle the load. You can hook up a SVC 8 ohm and SVC 4 ohm together as long as the amp can handle it. At least that's my understanding.

from the amp point of view, all you're doing is showing it a 1.333 ohm load to one channel. the spaekers just need to be able to handle what the amp is giving it..(whatever wattage output @ 1.333 ohms)

if you wire 2 different speakers together in parallel or series...keep in mind the power is split bbetween them...if they have different impedences...then they will get different amounts of power sent through them.
