when running the 2 4ohm svc subs to a mono amp at 2 ohms, i am connecting the subs + and - from one sub to the other and then from that sub to the amp? what if i just connected both +'s and -'s to the amp directly, would it still be running at 2 ohms?

Yes...if you think about it, both situations will provide the exact same path for electricty to flow. Hence, both will be 2 ohms.
