Hwy guys, I have what I think is an easy question, but wanted to pick your brains first. I have a brand new Toyota RAV4. Mine has the third row seat, so there is no space to hide a giant sub box. My wife freaked out when I mentioned betting a small box, so I have to go with a low-profile setup. I was going to put 2 six-inch midbass drivers in the cargo area, and an 8 incher in the cargo door where the factory sub would have gone had I gotten the option. They are all 4-ohm speakers.
First question: The hole in the tailgate is 8 inches (actually 8 inches). It has a mounting depth of 2.5 inches. It's really stupid, if they just moved the hole over it would be 6 inches deep! I could easily fit the Kicker SSMB8 which is very shallow. Does anybody know of any other free-air options?
Second question: I have a four channel amp. The two front channels are running my components. That leaves me two channels and three speakers. Will I destroy my amp (A Kicker KX150.4) if I do all three subs in parallel? How about if I put the two sixes in series with each other and then wire them to the 8 in parallel, all bridged to the 2 channels. That's 1.6 ohms. Will the sixes get more power, or the 8? I would rather not do a 5-channel amp due to space constraints. Thanks for your input.
