Okay, here goes...I have almost no experience with wiring and I'm running into some problems with my new project. I just bought an off-brand 5.6" LCD monitor off of eBay for $25 (working condition, I figured why not!). However, all that was included was the screen with a single female 8 pin plug, no power/AV input adapter was included. After searching locally ond on Crutchfield and other various websites to no avail, I found an adapter in my garage that I had left over from a Boss 7.2" monitor which was stolen some months ago. The problem was that it was also female, though it was also an 8 pin and had power and AV just like I needed. I couldn't find an adapter to change it from to F to M to F, so I decided to ghetto it up a little bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I cut the adapter ends off both the screen and RCA connector. I figured at worst I could always resplice the adapter back onto the screen plug. I quickly realized that it would not be quite as easy as it seemed, as the monitor has 9 wires coming out of it (red, black, white, blue, yellow, orange, brown, green, and a bare silver one) and the RCA plug only has 6 (red, black, white, yellow, blue, and green).
I hooked all the matching wires up (R (12+), Blk(grnd), Y, Bl, Grn, and W) and ran the RCA/pwr adapter to the battery and grounded it. With this done, the standby light comes on on the monitor, but it won't turn on, even with my PS2 plugged in. I'm sure that the 3 wires I don't have hooked up (orange, brown, and bare silver) are the reason it isn't turning on but I don't know what to do with them. All I need to hook up is video (I assume that's yellow) and don't need to hook up the two audio plugs as I'll be running it into my in-dash receiver. If anyone has any ideas on what to do with the three remaining wires, or notices any other mistakes with the hookup, I'd really appreciate it!!
I realize that this post is about the size of a college essay, I apologize for that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif, hope it sort of makes sense. If not, I can post pictures. Thanks for any help you can give!!!
