wondering if anyone can help...

kenwood deck in old 94 ford explorer which used to be a police car...

someone told me the problem is because in police cars they mess with the wiring..

but basically the deck works but only when the face place is inserted perpendicular and not fully locked in on one side...

If i put it up flush and fully locked in as it should be...it doesn't work...

people have told me it's due to strange wiring in old police cars...

I had a "friend" install it for me, and i just wanna fix it myself but am fairly new to this..

anyone have any knowledge about this????

thanks in adv.

First thought would be your "Friend" screwed up. Have a shop double-check it and then they can give you the low-down on if police cars are wired different. I wouldnt see why they would be...

Does the face just go off, or does the unit not repond? Maybe the plug comes undone or gets pinched somewhere when you close it...

So, it has a detachable face plate, and when one side is off, it works, and when the other side is on, it does not?

Post pics of the unit with the plate on and with it off. I want to see where the port is and what other connections there is on the unit.

sounds like the faceplate is broken - or the leads on the back are fugged up.

has nothing to do with the wiring if its working properly with the faceplate crooked.

sorry mang.
