Wiring my car for bridged power and another q.

Greetings all. I did a search for car audio forums, and hey, here I am! I have my entire car wired up, and have used this setup in the past, but not have a single sub(instead of the 2x10 MTX thunder something) I had before. So, I need to bridge the power. I have a Pioneer GM-X862 amp. I'm doing some experimentation, and installed a Klipsch KW120 sub into a box for my trunk.

It runs a impedance of 8 ohms.

How do I go about bridging the power of the two channels to it? Also, because I am using a fairly cheap amp, with a massive powerful sub, could that explain how I blew out one of my Mosfet Hexfets inside the amp? (model-IRFZ44N) I'm replacing it tonight, but would like to know how to wire it up with bridged power. Thanks in advance!

Thats a two channel amp, the terminals should be labeled on which ones to use to bridge the amp. You only get 380 watts bridged at 4 ohms, and since your sub is 8 ohms expect to get half of that. so 190 watts. You might want to think about buying a sub that will maximize the power of that amp.

I didn't see a label anywhere on it telling how to bridge, but I'll look again tonight. Seeing that the sub is MSRP of over a grand, and the amp I bought offline for $70, I think I'll end up getting a new amp if I can't get too much power. Thanks for the help man!

Yus sir. Hits down to I believe 18 hz, with a continous rating of 1200 watts, and a max of 2 kw. I figuired it might be enough low end for me. I had a friend who used two Klipsch LaScala's and two KW120's(the sub) as a PA system, and even outside from 200 feet away, it was making my heart want to stop. They sound unbelievably clear, with very tight bass. It's from the parent THX Ultra II system, a $10,000 system for your home, so I can't wait to get it drivin.

Are you going to take it out of that HT box and build a new one? or are you planning on building a box for it?

I guarantee it will sound pretty crappy if you use that box in your trunk.
