Wiring kit question, please tell me what you think.

I guess first off I should tell you about what I will be running. Here it is:

Head Unit: Alpine CDA-7893

Components: factory for now

Subs: 2 Soundstream 12"Rubicon R12SQ

Amps: 2 Soundstream Rubicon 502 (one to each Sub)

Here is the wiring kit that I am thinking about buying:

Stinger Total System Wire/Cap Kit SWCKH44

Same Kit Write Up

I can get it for around $200, not bad if you ask me.

I have a few questions about this kit. It says up to 1400w, I will be running just 1000w at first, but I am going to add 1 or 2 amps to run my components in the future. Probably 2- Rubicon 302's or 1- Rubicon 604, either way I will be @1600w if you go by the mfg. amp ratings. Old school Soundstream are known for being underrated.

The kit comes with 4ga. power wire, should I run 1/0 or would that be overkill?

I have also noticed that alot of the stinger distributiion blocks will acept dual 4ga. power wires. This is the first time I will have a multiple amp system so I don't know what is normal for this type of setup.

Could I just run 2-4ga. power wires from my battery? Or is that a stupid question?

Running bigger or multiple wires increase the total watts that can be powered, right? Will I need to upgrade any of the accessories to run @1600w?

Is there anything else that I would need, that isn't in that kit, to wire up 3 or 4 amps??

Will the 1.2f cap be enough to keep the power up?

For now the system will be in a '93 Grand Prix, do you think I will need to upgrade the alt?

I was thinking of upgrading the distribution block to this one when I add the components and amp(s) to run them. Is this an unnecessary upgrade?

Well I am sure I will have more questions, but for now that is all I can think of. Thank you in advance for any answers or suggestions you might have.

wire=wire, dont spend 200 on an amp kit when you can get one for much much cheaper. plus i would stay away from caps, because it will put more strain on your electrical system. use 1/0 to a distro block incase you upgrade later.

u can go to Wal-Mart and get a 4 guage wire kit that would do fine for ur use. oh, and the kit is only 25$. im not saying go and buy it, im saying 200$ on wires is crazy. u can buy a nice Rockford or Monster for under 100$.

Well I already have a 4 ga. kit from my old car, it is absolute and I got it for $40. I ran one of the Rubi 502's with it pushing an old 12" Orion sub.

"wire=wire"

To a point yes, but you can't tell me that aren't wires that are better than others. I'd like to have a nice looking install and I like the blue power wires.

"plus i would stay away from caps, because it will put more strain on your electrical system. use 1/0 to a distro block incase you upgrade later."

So 1/0 is the way to go then. I will be doing the Big 3 upgrade, prolly with 4ga. wire. I was only going to get the Cap because it came with the kit. I have read the whole "caps do nothing" thread. I don't know how much I agree with that arguement, but I do agree they don't do near what people think they do.

"u can go to Wal-Mart and get a 4 guage wire kit"

I'd rather not use Wal-mart wires on well over $1000 worth of equipment.

"You can get one of my custom kits for FAAAR less that that thing and have everything you need and nothing you don't."

Sounds good to me, where can I see your custom kits?

The main reason I was going to get the kit was I haven't had a multiple amp setup before so I wasn't sure exactly what I'd need. and the kit seemed cheaper than buying all the accessories seperate. That's why I asked you guys what you thought. I am all for saving money, but I also want nice stuff that won't ruin my equipment.

Keep the replies comin people, the more opinions and advice the better.
