I guess first off I should tell you about what I will be running. Here it is:
Head Unit: Alpine CDA-7893
Components: factory for now
Subs: 2 Soundstream 12"Rubicon R12SQ
Amps: 2 Soundstream Rubicon 502 (one to each Sub)
Here is the wiring kit that I am thinking about buying:
Stinger Total System Wire/Cap Kit SWCKH44
Same Kit Write Up
I can get it for around $200, not bad if you ask me.
I have a few questions about this kit. It says up to 1400w, I will be running just 1000w at first, but I am going to add 1 or 2 amps to run my components in the future. Probably 2- Rubicon 302's or 1- Rubicon 604, either way I will be @1600w if you go by the mfg. amp ratings. Old school Soundstream are known for being underrated.
The kit comes with 4ga. power wire, should I run 1/0 or would that be overkill?
I have also noticed that alot of the stinger distributiion blocks will acept dual 4ga. power wires. This is the first time I will have a multiple amp system so I don't know what is normal for this type of setup.
Could I just run 2-4ga. power wires from my battery? Or is that a stupid question?
Running bigger or multiple wires increase the total watts that can be powered, right? Will I need to upgrade any of the accessories to run @1600w?
Is there anything else that I would need, that isn't in that kit, to wire up 3 or 4 amps??
Will the 1.2f cap be enough to keep the power up?
For now the system will be in a '93 Grand Prix, do you think I will need to upgrade the alt?
I was thinking of upgrading the distribution block to this one when I add the components and amp(s) to run them. Is this an unnecessary upgrade?
Well I am sure I will have more questions, but for now that is all I can think of. Thank you in advance for any answers or suggestions you might have.
