wiring impedance , what 2 Gage wires fit into speaker terminal holes ?

I wired my 2 subs to 1 ohm with 12 Gage and had a real hard time with getting to wires into the speaker spring load terminal hole. Should I down grade to 14 Gage? or 16 Gage? I want to get both wires in there nicely, no rigging , i'm looking to do a clean job. What recommendations do you have ?

he means to cut away the strands that don't fit, you'll need precision wire cutters to make it look really good.

10- 4 , how do you guys feel about CCA speaker wire ? Is the difference enough to make a significant difference?

CCA is larger so go copper if you want it to fit.
