Wiring harness question

Well I just got an Alpine-7894, and I was talking with my friend about installing it. He was telling that I might (not for sure) have to get a special wiring harness, or something like that because I have a '99 Grand Am GT. Can some explain this to me. Or tell me I don't need it or something?

A wiring harness will keep you from cutting any stock wires in your car in order to connect an aftermarket HU. There may be special application too if your car doesn't have a standard radio, integrated AC, navigation, etc.

If you don't require just the basic GM harness, you'll likely need one of those factory re-location kits.

I'm not 100% sure what you require with your '99 GAGT. Check with Crutchfield and other places such as Circuit City, etc. Someone on here is bound to have experience with your vehicle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Could also check out the Scosche or Metra websites.

Metra 70- or 80-1858 will be what you need.

Dash kit will be a Metra 99-4544

Antenna adaptor will be a Metra 40GM10

Is your ignition cylander located right next to the radio? Those cars are cake to work on...just did a remote start in one.

How much would that all roughly cost?
