Wiring harness or hard wire?

Which would be better...

A: Hard wiring (cutting off the factory plug) the harness from my Eclipse HU to the stock wires of my ranger or...

B: buying the adapter that plugs into the factory plug?

Hmm, I'm kind of a cheapass... Maybe if I cut the factory plug far enough back so I can reach in and wire nut it back together if I need it again...

I always use a harness that way I can always replace the factory HU easily. If it is already cut then hardwire it.
