So in my 01 Qx4. Ive got a problem that is KILLING me, as I recently moved into the mountains, foglights are a MUST at night time, so this is a safety issue for me aswell. When I switch my foglights on (dial on the left side stock coming off the steering column). My drivers side fog turns on fine, but my passenger side illuminates the amber orange bulb, not the H3 bulb.
Looks like this
So I figured the H3 bulb might just not be getting power, so I took the fogs out and probed both solid red wires going to the H3 bulbs on both driver and passenger side, drivers side has 10.99Volts, passenger had 10.65Volts. So both bulbs are getting power.....
You can see in the pics where I cut the wire back to test
I noticed that both harness connectors were the same, so I swapped the drivers side housing over to the passenger side and vice versa, and still the passenger side foglight didnt turn on and the amber bulb lit up.
So that tells me that it has nothing to do with the foglight housing or the wiring on either, but the 3 wires going into the passenger side connector are sending bad signals??
I should also mention that the blinker turn signal on the passenger side works just fine....
Is there a simple fix for this??? The only thing I could think of, was to cut the green/red wire (assuming its the amber power wire) before enters the harness connector on the passenger foglight and tap it into the orange/grey (assuming its the foglight power wire)
But then I assume I wouldnt have a passenger side turn blinker EVER
Id love to know whats going on here, I suspect it may be faulty wiring in the stock, but its ridiculously expensive and Im simply looking for a cheap fix that will be safe. appreciate any help
