I just found out i hsve 2 - 3.5" speakers in my dash. I figured i need to upgrade these along with everything else. well after further investigstion they are wired in with the door speakers. so i am not sure which route to go. should i wire the amp to the stock wiring and power them both up or should i run new wires to the door speakers and let all the power from the factory radio power the new 3.5's.

also my amp will be putting out 46 rms and my new door speakers are only 40.

what part is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif about so i can explain better. the front 2 channels of the factory radio are powering four speakers.

so should i power all four of the front speakers with 2 channels from the amp or only the door speakers and use the stock head unit to power the 3.5's? most 3.5 speakers have very low rms wattage. so if i use the 2 channels to power the 4 speakers will the wattage be evenly divided or what will be the deciding factor in that? they have a set of wires coming from the head unit and the literly Y and go to each speaker.

i am installing a 6 channel amp, replcing door speakers and back dash speaker and adding a subwoofer. i just discovered i have 2 more 3.5" speakers that are wired into the front door speakers. i am not sure how to handle it. i have 2 options

1.) wire them to the amp along with the door speakers

2.) connect the door speaker to the amp and connect the 3.5's to the radio since the radio put out enough watts to power both. if i disconnect the door spesker it should raise the wattage

Unless its for subs, you want all your speakers on either a left or right channel. You don't really need four channels for four speakers, unless you want more control over front/back levels.

Output on any channel will be divided evenly among all of the speakers on that channel

I'd just leave the 3.5's wired to your HU and amp the four door/rear speakers, unless the 3.5's can handle more than 5-15 rms

You are trying to explain something to someone that does not understand you...... Think about that for a minute, no offence to the person trying to help you....

Do you already have speakers or will you be buying new ones. If you are buying new ones, buy component type speakers, a separate woofer and a separate tweeter. Mount the tweeter in the 3.5" hole and mount the woofer in the factory door location. Component speakers SHOULD (if they are a respectable brand) come with a crossover. Both woofer and tweeter will wire to the crossover with NEW wires and then run a NEW wire to the amp. Do not use the deck amplifier for anything.

to leave the 3.5 hooked up i would have to scotchlok the rca converter inline. i am not sure what the wattage drop would be. actually if i knew that and the stock wattage of the front channels i would have my answer

i have already bought the speakers. if i would have known about the 3.5 i would have went with componets.

so hook them both up to the amp? and nothing to the head unit?

if i was you i would take out the 3.5s put a pair of tweeters there and put the mids in the doors then u wouldnt have to worry about it and it'd be a normal component setup, but that's dependent upon if you can return what you got or exchance. it'd be wayyy better.. just my 2 cents.
