wiring confusion???

hi there, i am very new to this forum and need some help...

I have got 2 vibe vp2 amps and a vibe blackbox 1 amp and a 1.5 farad power cap, i have 2 vibe subs and want to run 1 amp to 1 sub, the blackbox for my components. I have wired up as following:

The power cable from battery to 4way dis block one off 2 the amps and the power cap.

The earth from each amp to a dis block then on to the ground (bare metal) of the car.

The remote wire from headunit to dis block then off 4 ways to amps and power cap.

speaker wire and rca's to the correct place.

Its not working though, i have checked all connections.

PLease help me? am i doing something wrong???

You can't do any real troubleshooting without a multimeter, but it's possible that your remote wire is being overloaded. Try disconnecting the remote wire from one component at a time and see if the others come on. If you have a multimeter, check the voltage at the amp power terminals and remote terminals.

i have just tried using the remote cable from the headunit to the remote from the amp but nothing.

what is the correct or best way to wire up a cap?

Why do you have the remote on going to the cap? And I don't see where you listed that you have the cap grounded?

Also...check all of your fuses. Make sure they're tightly in place and not blown.

sorry, im still learning a bit about things, the cap is grounded to the dis block which then goes on to the car ground.

the remote cable from headunit then on to dis block then to the amps and the power cap.

You need a voltmeter or at least a test light for any meaningful troubleshooting. See if you have voltage at the d-block for both power and remote turn-on. Since none of your components are working, your problem is most likely in the wiring between the battery and the d-block, or between the head unit and the remote d-block. My best guess is that you have a problem with your main fuse or fuseholder at the battery.

If your cap was miswired or left ungrounded, it still wouldn't prevent the other equipment from turning on.

You also should be using a relay to make sure that you get good voltage at the remote turn on terminal of each component. It is possible that when you set it up this way originally and tried it out that you toasted the remote turn on circuit of the HU by trying to turn on too many componenets directly with it instead of using a relay. As mentioned above, you will need a multimeter to troubleshoot this with any degree of certainty.

A quick check that you can do is to hotwire the remote turn on directly to a 12V source and see is the components come on. If they do, the problem is with your HU remote lead.

If I am reading the original post correctly then the remote activation input from the head unit was connected to the power distribution block which was connected directly to the battery.

If I'm right and this is what was done as soon as the remote output from the HU was connected to the power distro then a 12vdc feed was sent back into the HU via the remote activation output. Assuming I read what I think I read I would suggest that the remote activation circuit in the HU is now fried and would explain why the amp did not work when the remote output was connected directly to the appropriate terminal on one of the amplifiers.
