wiring configuration

i have a memphis pr-1000 mono amp, and not sure if i should get 3 or 4 RE8 subs.

amp does 600@ 2 ohms. so if i was to get 3 i could wire them to 2.67. how do i figure out how much my amp will put out at that ohm load? and if i got 4 i could wire them to a 2 ohm load. so, what would be better? either way i will have the gain just about maxed out im thinking just to give the subs rms. is it good to do that? and just your overall opinion. this is a daily driver so it needs to last. thanks

Cranking the gain up will just shorten the amp and subs life. It's for matching the amp to the h/u's output voltage. I've also found when you crank you the gains all it does is max every thing out to at 1/4 or whatever volume so you clip and distort a lot.

An easy way is figure out what subs you want to run and at what ohm, Add up the total watts rms and get an amp with that rms or a little more. Then if it's 1000ish watts you'll be ok with a strong stock electrical. If it's more than that start upgrading. Do the big 3, Alternator and go to kinetik's website and use the calculator to see what battery or battery's you need.

i might just have to go with 2. idk cause im trying to build this around the amp, i dont have money to get another one. and, do they call it big 3 cause there are 3 batteries? dont know much about it other than you connect multiple batteries together
