positive to positive, negative to negative

I think my 7 year old sister drew up a diagram with her new Crayola set, would you like me to scan that for you?

run wire between the front and back battery and fuse within 18 inches of the positive terminal of each battery... and thats it if wiring two and they are close just wire with no fuse but if any distance inbetween each other fuse again for safety

i was just wondering if i need to run a positive and a ground wire from the front batt to the back batt i only have the positive.
