wiring advantages

is there any sq advantage to wiring subs in stereo as opposed to mono. i am wiring 2 type r's to a precision power pc2350. 700 x 2 @ 2 ohms or 1400 x 1 @ 4 ohms. does stereo sound make any difference with subs? especially while watching movies.

wiring them in stereo is actually less effort. if it makes no difference though, running my amp at 4 ohms x 1 is less stress on it than 2 ohms by 2. given that it is the same watts either way.

I personally would wire it mono. Like you said, same power either way. But if you do wire them to stereo, It does increase the chance of some cancellation issues. If the subs are in two separate chambers, it wouldn't be as big of problem. But if they share the same air space, then you probably will.

they do share the same chamber, for now. they are in a sealed box, downfired. at some point i am going to build a ported enclosure for each, doubling as seats in my extended cab, downfired. to get a true surround sound in my truck should i put some rear fill speakers in the rear corners of the cab? i don't want it to interfere with music quality though.

The general opinion on "rear fill" is that it is not necessary and takes away from the front stage. I personally like it. But the primary focus should be on the front stage and rear fill secondary.

i was thinking of rear fill to also bridge the gap between the subs and the front stage. the alpine components don't handle lower frequencies as well as i like, and i like to keep the subs below 85hz.

I say give it a shot. If you don't like it, change it. That is one thing that is great about car audio. It can always be changed. Money allowing for it of course //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Assuming you are bridging the amplifier....it's the same amount of "stress" either way.

When bridged, each channel will essentially "see" half the load, hence a 2ohm load will effectively be presented to each channel.

The same amount of power = the same heat = the same amount of stress.

I would recommend to just bridge it aswell...but I didn't want you to be confused on thinking that one was any less "stressful" than the other.
