Wiring 4 subs

My buddy has a pair of pioneer 3000spl subs dual 4 so they wire down to 1 ohm. He is thinking about picking up another pair and they are dual 2 ohm. So if he wired them 1 pair at 4 ohm and another at 2 ohm what would the final load be. Thanks in advance.

im not sure but i dont think you can connect 4 ohm and 2 ohm together but i might be wrong

They would be wired together physicaly they would they would just both be ran off the same amp.

It would depend on how he wires them. Do you know how he plans on wiring them or if he has a preferable ohm load?

It's not going to really work correctly anywayz.... 2 of the subs will get a different power than the other two.

Stick with identical subs only.

well the only reason he is going to get 2 different kinds is because someone we know is selling them and its a very good deal.

2 amps. Gain match. I'm not sure if the different configuration on the subs would cause cancellation but it's probably still more trouble than it's worth.

If he buys an amp that puts out the same power at 2 ohms as his does at 1 ohm, then the subs would be getting the same power. I can't see why the different coil configs would cause any problems other than with the wiring. But under no circumstances should he hook both pairs up to the same amp. If it's that good of a deal, buy them, sell them, buy two more dual-4s.
