what gauge wire should i run with my setup, its going to be 1 amp pushing 100ish watts rms to each speaker, and a 600watt subwoofer amp to the sub. i was thinking maybe like 4 gauge all around...but i was just wondering since this is my first system over 500 watts.

yey 4 gauge just to be safe, could probably run 8 gauge to that, but no worries go with the 4

4 guage would be good.

go 0 guage if you plan to upgrade.

16 guage to the speakers,

12 guage to the subwoofer.

If the 12awg is too expensive for you, you could go with 14 or 16awg as well as long as the run wasnt very long.

so 16 gauge from the amp to the speakers, 12 from the amp to the sub, and 4 for the main power is cool? anyone think i should get a cap...i really dont want my lights dimming on me every time my sub hits.

buy an extra 10 feet of 1/0 guage and do the big three under the hood. You're not really running all that much power anyway, so unless you have a tiny alternator you shouldn't have any problems... Install it first, then see if you need and electrical upgrades.
